portraits of the people who made you

Not a lineup. A living room.

No matching outfits standing stiffly shoulder to shoulder for every shot, staring down a lens. We’ll bottle up the real texture of your family.

There are moments you'll know you'll remember. The first steps, birthdays, and holidays. And then there are the moments you won't think twice about until years later.

The way your child always reached for your hand. The missing front teeth. The borderline concerning attachment to that one worn out costume. The way your partner looked at them when they weren't paying attention. The things that felt so ordinary they were almost invisible.

Those are the moments that quietly become a childhood.

This is for the people you'd run into a burning building for.

The ones who taught you how to love, how to fight, how to want to do it all over again after sleepless nights.

This session is for them. And for including you in the story you’re usually the one documenting.

The goal isn't to create a version of your family that doesn't exist.

It's to preserve the one that does.

This is for you if:
  • You want a record of exactly who your family is right now, not a staged version of it
  • You're welcoming a new member, marking a move, or gathering generations before something changes
  • You've outgrown the stiff, studio-lit family portrait and want something that actually feels like you (not just what you looked like)
  • You want images that hold up in twenty years, not just look good in a feed
  • You have some high-energy little ones (my favorite!)

The Experience

We start with a conversation. A call or an email exchange about your family, your people, and the place that feels most like home to you, literally or otherwise.

We choose a location together. Your actual home, a favorite trail, a stretch of coast, your grandmother's kitchen. Wherever the story lives.

I'll direct — just not like that. I won’t ask your children to become different people for the sake of a photograph. We'll move. We'll explore. We'll follow good light. We'll leave room for surprise.

What comes back to you will be a true, gorgeously written excerpt from the story of your family, not a performance.

What you’ll leave with:

Not just portraits, but an archive.

Of the way she laughs with her whole body and the way he still lets you carry him (for now).

Of the people who made this place feel like home and the spaces you've built together.

Of the particular chaos and closeness of this chapter. Not a memory yet, just true.

This is for noticing that, while you're in it.

a note for parents

You don't need to prepare your children to be "good."
They don't need to smile the whole time.
They don't need to perform.
They only need to be themselves.

I'll take care of the rest.
